  • In Himachal Pradesh, the state assembly again witnessed disruption for the second day today in the ongoing monsoon assembly session in capital Shimla. The opposition BJP remained adamant in the house in question hours on its demand to discuss the law and order situation immediately.




  • The Delhi High Court today set aside an order of the Lieutenant Governor cancelling the allotment of a bungalow to the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), saying no reason was given for the action.Justice Vibhu Bakhru sent the matter back to Lieutenant Governor Anil Baijal to pass a reasoned order within eight weeks.

  • The Delhi High Court today sought Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal's response on a plea seeking action against him for allegedly filing a false affidavit that he had not instructed his counsel to use derogatory words against Union minister Arun Jaitley. Justice Manmohan issued notice to Kejriwal and sought his response within four weeks.



  • Bihar Government has sought help of the Indian Army and another agency of the defence to repair at least six major bridges damaged in the worst affected districts of Araria, Purnea and Kishanganj.Road construction Minister Nand Kishore Yadav told AIR that as many as 203 roads including those of state highways and major district roads had suffered extensive damage in 13 flood-hit districts.




  • In Gujarat, the Central expert team including a microbiologist and a specialist of respiratory diseases and an epidemiologist is studying the circumstances of outbreak of swine flu in the state.The team is on a three day visit to Gujarat held series of meetings with state health department yesterday.

  • A man was arrested today in connection with the death of a worker while cleaning a sewer at the Delhi government-run Lok Nayak Jai Prakash Narayan Hospital.The police said, Prem Sagar, who works as a storekeeper at the hospital, was arrested for alleged negligence.




  • In Bihar, the death toll due to floods has mounted to 361.Over one crore fifty lakh people in 18 districts are affected, with more than 7 lakh 60 thousand people shifted to safer places.



  • The Allahabad High Court has directed the Uttar Pradesh government to file its reply on a petition which alleged that more than 50 people have died at a renowned hospital in Varanasi in the last six months due to non-availability of oxygen. The court yesterday asked the state government to file its counter affidavit within six weeks.

    Gyanender today narrowly missed out on a bronze medal play-off berth as Indian Greco-Roman wrestlers finished their campaign without a medal at the World Wrestling Championships in Paris. Gyanender, who got an opportunity to fight in repechage bouts of Greco-Roman 59kg category, failed to make the most of it as he crashed out of the event after going down in his second repechage round.

  • The Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs, CCEA has approved the renaming of the new Central Sector Scheme - SAMPADA (Scheme for Agro-Marine Processing and Development of Agro-Processing Clusters) as Pradhan Mantri Kisan Sampada Yojana (PMKSY) for the period of 2016-20 coterminous with the 14th Finance Commission cycle. Earlier, the CCEA in its meeting in May this year had approved the SAMPADA with same allocation and period.
